In today's Gospel Jesus entrusts the Church to Peter, a weak and sinful man. When we put our trust in the Church we are not putting our trust in man but in Jesus who promised that the Holy Spirit would protect the Church from error.

In this Sunday's readings, we learn that God is different than the powerful forces of the world. He is not only different from these but more powerful than them. He rules over these. By learning to hear and hang on to God we too can experience peace and calm amidst the storm.
